Circle Time Resources

Circle Time these mornings consists of:

:: a song (a nursery rhyme type song or a bible song using our Wee Sing CDs and books)

:: a story (either a letter-of-the-week story or The Jesus Storybook Bible)

:: an ABC song (a-a-apple, the alphabet song, or our short vowel song)

:: going over our My Father's World from A to Z Reading Plan orally

:: a poem (currently Leprechaun Stew from dltk-teach.com -- a website I use a ton for the little ones. Our favorite poetry book is Gyo Fujikawa's A Child's Book of Poems -- but it's in our fix-it box right now)

:: calendar (singing our Days-of-the-Week or Months-of-the-Year songs, counting to today's date -- starting at 0 because we're a Math U See family, and Blasting Off! at the top of our lungs OR whispering some days since Miss Miriam came along)

:: seeing what "Crazy Old Mother Goose is up to (I read a 2-page spread each morning)

and

:: taking turns pretending to be a weather man (observing:  season, sky color, sunny or cloudy, precipitation, wind, and temperature through the back door)


... Then we may or may not do "some pages"


*This weekend, I'm taking on a little project and hanging this up in the breakfast area -- it should make Calendar and Weather a little more fun.

A Last Sunday And Snowman Crafting

We're fairly certain today was the last Before Church photo without Baby Miriam. It's a little bitter sweet. It always is. The baby is not the baby anymore ... and there is a new baby.



After church, and a dollar store trip, and lunch, and naps, I decided to make good on one of my goals for 2014:  to do more fun crafts with my littles.



First, we made our Snowman Bulletin Board Display. I found this on dltk-teach.com ... it looks like they have one for each month/season, so I plan to go back for more, and keep my front door as an advertisement for our homeschool.


While we were cutting out our snowflakes, we had visitors ...

"The Tootsie Roll Man!" the boys all shouted as they looked out our dining room windows.

And sure enough, there was the Tootsie Roll Man and his sweet wife. They brought Miriam a beautiful afghan. I'll have to share a picture with you once she is here, and snuggled up in it.



Next:  Cotton balls, paper plates, construction paper, and glue. A very simplified version of a craft I found while googling (I'm not on Pinterest anymore).

Then:  More glue, marshmallows, pretzel sticks, markers, and glitter. Fun. Messy. Yummy (just ask Judah).

 I've had this idea pinned for quite some time ... it was probably one of the first things I pinned a year ago when I first succumbed to Pinterest. Last night was just a practice run at the Bailey Family Drive In ... our family was not complete, we did not have black paper plates for the tires, we didn't take the time to add our yellow construction paper headlights, and there was no concession stand (however, Korinne did bake a chocolate cake for us ... and Kylie made bread:). Also, I think a few of the boxes were too small. But! The boys did get a kick out of the idea, they even thanked me over and over again for "the idea." So ... we will be finishing our cardboard box cars, and we will be heading to the Bailey Family Drive In more often. And, I think I'll come up with a fancier name: Starry Night Drive In ... Midnight Sky Drive In ... Full Moon Drive In ... ...

I'll post the real deal as soon as we go again.
